Hometown Health Association of Georgia and Telesales (GPT) hosted a meeting of eight dynamic companies in Georgia that are cooperating to implement Teleconnect the GA to better health (TCGBH) program. TCGBH is a collaborative effort through the use of telemedicine and the adoption of broadband to improve the deteriorating health of rural Georgians. GPT received a grant to create training and extension program for residents and health professionals to improve the provision of health and health care in the state in 91 designated “persistent poverty counties.” Teleconnect Georgia for Better Health (TCGBH) is possible thanks to broadband technology and Opportunities Program is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Leverage the strengths of the agencies of state government, private sector and educational organizations and nonprofit, the project intends to promote community economically vulnerable populations, including school children, residents of low-income, elderly and young at risk to cope with ill health and lack of medical care quality.
Hometown Health, a network of 55 hospitals in rural Georgia, has been an integral partner with Georgia Association of Tele-health in the execution of this grant, as well as the integration of the roles of all partners, and evaluation of goals and objectives of each partner for the award BTOP.

Sherrie Williams, Director of the School based on the collaboration of the Berrien County Health Clinic (SBHC), “The Med” in Nashville, Georgia closed the program to share how Telesales has enabled low-income children in the school the opportunity to receive access to primary care and medications through subsidies. Berrien County SBHC is only the third of its kind in Georgia and the first to use telemedicine. Williams is a strong supporter of the use of Telesales in Georgia school systems.
