American Statistical Association names Joseph Ibrahim’s position Jasa

The American Statistical Association (ASA), the nation’s preeminent professional statistical society, today announced the appointment of Dr. Joseph Ibrahim as the coordinating editor of the forthcoming Journal of the American Statistical Association (Jasa), and also the editor of the section of Jasa applications and case studies. Dr. Ibrahim is a professor in the Department of Biostatistics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

long history of conducting research and publishing experience uniquely qualified for this prestigious position, said David Banks, Duke University, who chaired the search committee for publishing. He has been a leader in the development of statistical methods, especially Bayesian techniques, in almost all aspects of biostatistics, longitudinal neuroimaging studies in genomics to missing data. He has provided extensive editorial service to the profession of statistics, and we are fortunate to have agreed to accept these positions Jasa.

coordinator, Dr. Ibrahim working with publishers Jasa two sections: Theory and Methods (co-editors Xuming He and Liu in June) and Comments (Editor Alyson Wilson) – to ensure that Jasa publishes a balanced mix of articles.

Dr. Ibrahim has already served as associate editor for both applications and Jasa section Case Studies and the theory and methods section, as well as biometrics, Bayesian analysis, and other journals. Currently, the UNC-Chapel Hill, who is Distinguished Alumni Professor of Biostatistics, and director of the Center for Innovative Clinical Trials.

Founded in 1888 and is published quarterly in March, June, September and December, the Jasa has been regarded as the leading journal of statistical science. Articles focus on statistical applications, theory and methods in economic, social, physical engineering and health sciences. Important books contributing to statistical advancement are reviewed at Jasa. ASA members receive free subscriptions to online journals and other Jasa ASA.
