BASF provides 75,000 life-saving to the Nets Nothing But Nets Campaign emergency appeal to save lives in the Horn of Africa

, UN Foundations Nothing But Nets campaign announced a donation of 75,000 mosquito nets and insecticides for the chemical company BASF’s long-term net manufacturer, to be delivered in refugee camps throughout the Horn of Africa, through the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR).

In response to the humanitarian crisis in the Horn of Africa, the Nothing But Nets campaign global community campaign to combat malaria in Africalaunched an urgent appeal to help UNHCR provide 150,000 mosquito nets to families fleeing drought , hunger and conflict in the Horn of Africa region.

We are grateful to BASF for the donation of 75,000 mosquito nets against malaria to help us protect families at risk in the Horn of Africa as soon as possible, said Chris Helfrich, director of It But scratch the Nets campaign. BACKGROUND


In Africa, every 45 seconds a child dies of malaria, which can be easily prevented by using a mosquito net treated with insecticide. The networks create a protective barrier against mosquitoes at night, when the vast majority of malaria transmissions occur, and are the most cost-effective to prevent the spread of the disease.


Anyone can join the fight against malaria

with a donation of $ 10. Nothing But Nets uses 100 percent of every donation for the purchase of a network, given a family and educate communities on its importance and its proper use.
