New Seattle Childrens Hospital Guild Honors Lives of Stillborn Babies Through Advocacy, Awareness and Support

 - by admin

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) May 01, 2012

A new Seattle Childrens Hospital Guild, Stillborn Still Loved Guild, was recently founded by four parents whose babies have forever changed their lives: Ashley Kimberley, Abbie Smith, Keli Hansen and Ralph Morton. As they each grappled with surviving their childrens deaths they felt compelled to create change. Bonded by the love for their stillborn children and the experience of grief, these parents have united to effect change and honor the babies whom they long to raise.

Stillborn Still Loved Guilds mission is to honor the lives of stillborn babies through advocacy, awareness and support. The guild is a place for people with similar experience to come together and create change by sponsoring events to raise awareness of stillbirth. By collaborating in this mission they are gaining momentum for change that cannot be stopped. The guild has four founding members and has gained 60 new members since the beginning of March, including additional bereaved parents and family and friends.

Bereaved parents should not have to suffer alone, says Ashley Kimberley, President of Stillborn Still Loved Guild. It is our hope that this new guild can be a helpful, nurturing way for families to work together out of love for their babies.

The guild will raise money to support GAPPS (Global Alliance to Prevent Prematurity and Stillbirth), an initiative of Seattle Childrens Hospital that is facilitating groundbreaking work by leading a global movement to change the reality of stillbirth in our world. GAPPS mission is to lead a collaborative, global effort to increase awareness and accelerate innovative research and interventions that will improve maternal, newborn and child health outcomes and decrease fetal mortality.

The guilds first fundraising event, SWIRL & SIP, will be held Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Grand Cru in Bellevue. A wine tasting and silent auction, the inaugural event will be an intimate affair where the lives of stillborn babies will be cherished in an intimate and surprisingly festive collaborative event. Hosted by the guild, the event will feature a short program led by Dr. Craig Rubens, the director of GAPPS.

SWIRL & SIP is being sponsored by Grand Cur, Dunham Cellars and Steppe Cellars. Tickets are on sale now at http://www.stillbornstillloved.org.
